The Sixth International Conference on Philosophy of Language and Linguistics (PhiLang 2019), University of Lodz (Poland), 10-12 May 2019

The Department of English and General Linguistics at the University of Lodz announces the Sixth International Conference on Philosophy of Language and Linguistics, PhiLang2019. As in previous years, the principal aim of our Conference is to bring together philosophers, linguists, and logicians, as well as researchers interested in argumentation, philosophy of literature, and philosophy of mind. This year the key topics will include the following:

Philosophical foundations of semantics and pragmatics

Names in fiction

Denial and negation

The Lvov-Warsaw School and contemporary philosophy of language

Progress in the philosophy of language

 

Two workshops are planned: on Philosophy of Argumentation (organized by Martin Hinton, University of Lodz) and on Games, Language, and Philosophy (organized by Paweł Grabarczyk, IT University of Copenhagen).

Selected conference proceedings will be published in monographic volumes in the Peter Lang series Studies in Philosophy of Language and Linguistics, and special issues of international journals.

Conference venue

The conference will be held at the Faculty of Philology building, at ul. Pomorska 171/173, while accommodation can be found at the University Conference Centre at ul. Kopcinskiego 16/18. Early booking is advised.

The two buildings are situated within easy walking distance of each other within the university campus area, as you can see from this map.
